Amanda was born in London, brought up in Yorkshire and has been in Cambridge for over 30 years. She lives with her adult son in Cherry Hinton Road and works at Cambridge University Press. She has represented the Queen Edith's ward for over 20 years on both the City and the Council, serving in many roles including being one of the City Council's first Executive Councillors and as County Councillor chairing the Cambridge Traffic Committee.
