Background Information: The Government has recently streamlined national planning policy and the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) came into effect on 27 March 2012.It includes a 12 month transitional period to allow local planning authorities to update plans to ensure that they are in conformity with the framework.The Cambridge Local Plan and Area Action Plans for Cambridge will be given full weight in the determination of planning applications for the transitional period as long as the policies are not considered to be in conflict with the NPPF. An assessment of conformity with the NPPF has been undertaken and will be reported to Environment Scrutiny for consideration and approval.
