Background Information: The alarms service has experienced a continued decline in customer numbers over the past 5 years resulting in an under achievement in income. This is the result of a number of factors including advancing technology which has widened the options available in the market, and increased competition from both local and national providers. In addition, the upcoming switch from analogue to digital telephone services by 2025 means it may be necessary to change the type of alarm we provide, which would require significant investment. A review is therefore being conducted to help inform a decision on whether the service should continue to be provided in the future, and if so how it can be modernised to ensure it is fit for purpose and responsive to individual’s needs.
