Changing public recycling sites to commingled collections in order to make the service more efficient.
Decision type: Key

Decision status: Recommendations Approved

Additional Information: This is a key decision and will automatically appear on the agenda.
Background Information: At present paper, glass, cans and plastics are kept separate at the public recycling sites and sent to reprocessors without any further sorting being required. A separate vehicle is employed to do this which makes the service expensive. Savings could be made if this work was incorporated into the commingled service. There would be reduced income for the sale of the materials, but a net saving.
