Procedural Notice

The Committee was first asked if it was content to proceed with its meeting, despite having been summoned less than five clear days before the meeting.  The agenda has been published at the earliest opportunity, Tuesday 24 November. Officers  recommended that the reports be excluded from publication.

To Appoint a Chair for the Meeting

Minutes:

Councillor Lewis Herbert was appointed as Chair for the meeting.

Members are asked to declare at this stage any interests, which they may have in any of the following items on the agenda. If any member is unsure whether or not they should declare an interest on a particular matter, they are requested to seek advice from the Head of Legal Services before the meeting.

Exclusion of the Public

Items 6 & 7 relate to information, which are not for publication as they contain exempt information. If this information is likely to be discussed the Employment (Senior Officer) Committee is recommended to exclude members of the public from the meeting on the grounds that, if they were present, there would be disclosure to them of information defined as exempt from publication by virtue of paragraph 3 of Part 1 of Schedule 12A of the Local Government Act 1972.

To Appoint Members to the Joint Cambridge City Council and South Cambridgeshire District Council Selection Panel for the Post of Joint Director Planning and Economic Development

To nominate three Members of the Employment (Senior Officer) Committee to form part of a future Joint Member Selection Panel with Members from South Cambridgeshire District Council.

Minutes:

The Employment (Senior Officer) Committee nominated three of their Members to form part of a Joint Selection Panel with three Councillors from South Cambridgeshire District Council for the post of Joint Director of Planning and Economic Development.

 

The nominations were agreed as: Councillor Herbert, Councillor Blencowe and Councillor C Smart.  Councillors Price (Labour) and Bick (Liberal Democrat) were agreed as Alternate Councillors.

Agenda Date for Next Meeting

To be confirmed.

Minutes:

Dates would now be canvassed for a Joint Panel meeting with Councillors from South Cambridgeshire District Council to discuss the appointment and selection process.

 

The committee asked that any papers be circulated to Alternate Councillors in addition to those invited to attend the meeting.

 

It was noted that the Employment (Senior Officer) Committee may be asked to reconvene to consider other matters within the remit of this committee. 

 

The Employment (Senior Officer) Committee asked for copies of the Head of Planning job description and person specification to be provided following this meeting.
