Minutes:
The report referred to the Pensions Act 2011 which requires employers to
automatically enrol eligible employees into a qualifying pension scheme, where
they were not currently a member. This task would then be repeated every three years.
Decision of the
Leader
(i)
Approved the use of the transitional arrangements
to defer the assessment of the existing workforce, under the pension’s
auto-enrolment arrangements, from 1st October 2013 to 30th September 2017.
(ii)
Approved the use of the option to postpone
automatic enrolment for certain categories of workers for a period of up to
three months (as set out in paragraph 3.7 of the agenda).
