Background Information: The Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1976 enables Council’s to fix the rates of Hackney Carriage fares. Following a trade request to have an annual inflation rate rise in fares, Members are asked to consider this request, and if appropriate instruct officers to undertake the relevant consultation with a view to implementing an annual increase in line with inflation (CPI).
